Teenagers are very complex human beings and they are often easily frustrated with their parents mere existence. While this may only be but a temporary phase that they all must survive through, it can also be a time in their lives when one circumstance can potentially change their lives and future forever. If you are the proud parent of a teenage daughter it I imperative to speak wisely with her regarding preventing teenage pregnancy. The entire topic not only makes the child uncomfortable, but in many homes it makes the parents just as equally difficult to discuss as well.
Absolutely no mother or father wants to even remotely fathom their teenage daughter may be sexually active. The harsh reality is that more teen girls are sexually active than the ones who are not and for that reason it simply must be addressed. The issue is that some parents feel as if they engage in allowing their daughters to be placed on some form of birth control they are in some indirect manner giving the ok for their kids to have sex. This is may seem that way to the parents, but the kids will find a way to be active if they so desire to whether you help in the prevention of pregnancy or not.
While it may be some fantasy to assume that all teen boys have the talk with their folks, that is simply a fantasy and they do all accept the responsibly of always wearing protection either. The boys are equally at fault for not taking the issue more seriously as the girls are and for the parents of any teen girl to think their boyfriend will be responsible all the time is completely false. This is exactly why the parents should aide the girls in taking the initiative to protect themselves as their future is at risk. Condoms are a great start, but to be honest how many kids actually use them when they engage in sex and actually use them correctly? Not many, or the teenage pregnancy rate would not be as high as it currently is. The best thing a parent can do is get their daughter to the gynecologist office and get them started on some form of birth control. This is the only fool proof method of knowing your child will not be having their own child in the near future. It is the responsibly of the parents to ensure their children have enough information regarding the incidents that can effect getting pregnant and the consequences of it as well. Some young girls have this distorted vision of what becoming a young mother truly is and they do not take is very realistically. They can result in having a baby way too young or having to make a life changing decision of giving their first born up for adoption which can deeply impact their emotional stability for the rest of their lives and even yours as well. The good thing is that preventing teenage pregnancy is completely preventable and all it takes is an understanding parent with an open ear and reasonable plan to protect their daughter's future for the better.
